HKMA has been reviewing the regulatory treatment of crypto-assets locally

There is a growing prevalence of crypto-assets over the world including Hong Kong, it develops tremendous business opportunities but associates with potential regulatory and compliance risks at the same time. HKMA has issued the paper on “Discussion Paper on Crypto-assets and Stablecoins” in January 2022.
